It's a long shot, but I don't suppose you know of a way to get this to use Twitter's native retweet format (i.e. where the retweet icon is displayed in the Twitter feed)?

Sure. Try this:
1. Go to http://tweetsmarter.com/NEW...
2. Type your message including the "#" tag
3. Click on the "Add Retweet Link"
4. Then just copy the shortened url as your link
5. Use the shortened link anywhere on your blog or website

Any idea how I can add a #(hash) tag while creating the retweet link using Step 1. When I create one using the encoder and display it on a page, everything works well except that the hash tags are never shown!

The introduction of hashtags (#) into your post will prevent this code from working, which all you have to do is remove the hashtags and you are good to go!

Do you know of a way to enhance the URL so that when the button is clicked the message is preloaded into the Status box and then the update button is AUTOMATICALLY pressed?

I'm hoping that there is some type of opreator like "?Update=POST" or something like that which you can tack in there to get it to auto-post the message.
